Steampunk Celtic by foreignmind Steampunk Celtic by foreignmind
So this has been ready for uploading for about a month, but with my scanner and computer crashing and all, yeah that kinda put a damper on things

Inspired by the massively talented ~porkshanks, who I look up to for all things steampunk. Sort of an informal "thank you" I guess, since she indirectly got me interested in the steampunk culture though her works. However, my artwork can't even compare, so go and check her out guys! Sometimes I just wanna steal some of her stuff it's so awesome lol.

I have bought stuff from her before off of Etsy, and so am in possession of Chrono Corps ring #43 lol. Looking foward to buying more in the future.

Meh, my scanner still hates me, and so screwed up the coloring alot. So I had to darken it in Gimp. Hope it didn't turn out too bad!

This is a wonderfully crafted concept of two different styles conjoined together. You did a beautiful job.

This is absolutely brilliant. I love it. the colours and shapes are spot on. I enjoy some of the broken lines, they really add to the steampunk nature, unfortunately I think they might take away from the celtic design a little, but that's where the circles make it all better! Love it!

Hello, sorry it took so long for me to get back to you....I took a break for a while and just got back.

I'm fine with you having the image on your blog, and while I would have preferred that you had asked before you actually posted it, I appreciate that you had the courtesy to ask. I have no problem with it as long as it links back to this page and/or is credited. :)

Thanks for the compliment, I hope you continue to enjoy my work.

I will say, my first thought whenever I hear "Celtic Steampunk" (Or "Steampunk Celtic") is definitely, definitely not this.

But that's thinking rationally, and solidly. This is an abstract piece.

Which captures both VERY distinct styles rather beautifully, if not a bit too art deco for either.

That doesn't stop me from very much wanting a copy of this on my wall. 8D

Lol, to be truthful, this isn't the first thing that I would think of either.

I prefer to base my celtic work off of celtic spirals instead of the more widespread knotwork, but I will admit to taking a more abstract approach to it. It's open to interpretation :D I've never actually had my artwork compared to art deco before, but know that I look at it, you're absolutely right.

I'm very happy that you like this piece so much as to want a print. I'm still trying to get good quality scans before I submit anything as a print (my scanner is rather poor quality and too small...and I'm afraid of the quality being sub-par to tell you the truth), but thank you so much for showing an interest! I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I do!

I love this. A friend and I were just trying to figure out if anything Celtic/Steampunk existed, and he found this. It's wonderful that you take inspiration and influence from Porkshanks; she is also an amazing artist.

I particularly like this piece because it looks like it's in motion. If you unfocus your eyes a bit, you can see the gears moving...

Well done.

Thank you! :D

I've always loved Celtic art, and Steampunk in itself has fascinated me. People often tell me that my work looks like cogs and gears, so I figured I might as well try to combine the two!

That's so weird that you guys were looking for something steampunk/celtic....and so soon after I had posted it! Odd, how things often turn out, you know?

Thanks for the support! I'm glad that you like it.

Yes. An Arcane PFX-160, complete with a metalloid hydraulics system along with built-in tuyau and pantograph extenders allowing it to be modified readily in case of am in-flight emergency. There are also signs of an advanced system similar to an eductor-jet pump, although that is only speculation based on preliminary sketches.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it :D

Wow, I love it and so does my daughter! Kind of reminds me of *Itsuo's work as far as the curves and flow. It looks good dark to me!

Thanks!

I love *Itsuo's works, they're inspiring really. I'm still not totally happy with the way I edited it, but I spent so much time on it that it'd be wasteful to go back when I'm not sure that I could do better. I had to take 4 scans and splice them together.
